BOONE, Iowa---There was a packed house on the Boone Campus of Des Moines Area Community College as family and friends turned out to support members of Company "C", 2nd Battalion, 147th Aviation, a Boone based unit headed to Kosovo on the peace keeping mission. Lt. Governor Patty Judge represented Governor Chet Culver and spoke to the nearly 65-soldiers that fly and maintain Blackhawk helicopters based in Boone. The unit is expected to leave Wednesday and will travel to Indiana for additional training before heading overseas.
