BOONE, Iowa---The biggest news item from this week's Boone City Council meeting was what wasn't brought up, annexation. Earlier this month, Council member Gary Nystrom offered a motion to develop an arrangement with industrial park businesses seeking to avoid a confrontation over annexation. The arrangement was to be reviewed by legal counsel and then given to the Council for review. Presenting the offer to the Council would have made it part of the public record and made it available to the community. City Administrator Luke Nelson says the matter needed to be tabled because the agreement is still going through legal review. Much of the Industrial Park on the east side of Boone is outside the city limits. The Council is expecting to have an annexation study done by early summer.
