Emergency Declared For Storm Damage

BOONE, Iowa---Boone Mayor John Slight has taken steps to declare an emergency for the city following Sunday night's severe thunderstorm. The action puts in motion city personnel to begin cleaning up on street trees and eventually picking up branches that residents move to the parking. City Parks and Public Works have actually been doing street tree clean up since Sunday night. Residents may move branches, less than 12" in diameter, to the parking so city personnel will be able to remove them. Branches should be moved my Monday, July 4th. It may take a couple of weeks to get all the branches removed.
