BOONE, Iowa---The planned start of demolition of three downtown buildings in Boone is being slowed because of the availability of additional grant dollars to cover some of the costs. Boone officials had dedicated some of their Neighborhood Stabilization Grant funds for the demolition of the Mason Building at 801 Story Street. Now, City Administrator Luke Nelson says additional grant dollars are available which is good. The bad news, a historic review needs to be completed before demolition can proceed. Nelson told the City Council this week, work should begin by the end of the month.
