BOONE, Iowa---Boone Mayor John Slight is starting a campaign to send a big care package to members of the Iowa National Guard. With the recent deployment of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 34th Infantry Division, thousands of soldiers, including many from the Boone area, are getting ready to go to Afghanistan. Slight has invited city staff and members of the community to support the effort. A collection box will be located in the main hall at the Boone City Hall. Donations will be collected September 27th and will be shipped Monday, October 4th. You can view a list of items here.
