Hospital Administrators Narrow IT Choices

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Hospital Board of Trustees received another update on efforts to move to digital medical records in a timely fashion. The timing involves federal money available to make the transition and to select a system that will be compatible for the hospital's needs. Joe Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Boone County Hospital says cost comparisons between two systems are being conducted. He also says a third choice has recently been suggested, but additional review will be needed to see if the option is viable. Smith told the Board this week that once a decision is made, it will probably be more than a year before work is completed.
