BOONE, Iowa---Friday is the deadline for interested candidates to submit papers to be on the ballot in a July special election. The special election will be held July 13th and will determine who will represent the city's 4th Ward. Council member Glen Thompson submitted his resignation in March. The Council did selected an appointment, but did it by secret ballot. When the matter was reconsidered, an appointment was not possible because of the lack of action within a specified time frame.
