BOONE, Iowa---The old county bridge west of Boone across the Des Moines River has not been usable since mid-March and Tuesday, the Boone County Supervisors will hold a public hearing about permanently closing the bridge to vehicular traffic. The issue of the "Wagon Wheel Bridge" has been before the Supervisors for several years. The cost of preserving the structure is prohibitive and so is the cost of building a new bridge. Following the public hearing, the Supervisors will consider action to close the bridge to traffic.
