BOONE, Iowa---Boone City Administrator Luke Nelson posed a question to Council Members this week, should the City be required to follow the same design standards as other downtown business owners? The question was raised because the City will need to make repairs to the facade of the Boone Police Department at 6th and Story Streets. The current covering has been damaged and continues to deteriorate. Nelson told the Council that several downtown businesses and property owners have been looking at design standards for the downtown. The Council agrees that something needs to be done, the question is what and how will the bill be paid?
