BOONE, Iowa---The open burning of yard waste is permitted in Boone, October 1st through November 15th. Boone Fire Chief Justin Adams says the ordinance dealing with open burning has been in place for over 10-years and the department still gets called out as much as they did before there was an ordinance. Adams says the biggest complaint usually comes from neighbors of people burning. Another big concern is people that start a pile of yard waste on fire and them leave it unattended. Adams says people should also be cautious because of the extremely dry conditions.
