Fire Damages YMCA

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone Fire Department spent a number of hours late Friday night and early Saturday putting out a fire at the Boone County Family YMCA. Officials report that the fire originated and was essentially confined to the office area of the facility. The damage was considered extensive. There are also reports of quite a bit of smoke and water damage. The Boone County Family YMCA, part of the Y of Greater Des Moines is closed. Off site activites are still scheduled. The cause remains under investigation.
