Local Support Sought For CAT Grant

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad is getting closer to obtaining a Community Attraction and Tourism Grant for the State Economic Development Department. Fenner Stevenson, General Manager of the Boone and Scenic Valley says the grant is for the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and History Center. He told the City Council the state wanted more local financial input and the Council approved adding $20,000 to the $10,000 already committed. The Boone County Supervisors will be asked Wednesday to match to contribution. The Supervisor had previously committed $10,000. Stevenson says about $800,000 has already been raised for the project.
