Boone's younger students go back to school today. Boone High School students dismissed early for heat

BOONE, IA - Students in Pre-Kindergarten through fourth graders started school in Boone today. Now all students are officially in session. However, due to the heat expected over the remainder of the week, students in the high school building will be released at 1:30 each day.

Students in PK-8 are educated in air-conditioned classrooms whereas most high school class rooms are not. Therefore, it is only grades 9-12 that will be dismissed early. High schoolers riding the buses will be directed to the library where they will be supervised in an air-conditioned environment until bus pick up at 3:10pm
