Small Wind Generators Permitted in Boone

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone City Council has approved the first consideration of an ordinance that will permit small wind energy conservation devices within the city limits. The city was approached about permitting small wind turbines over a year ago, but an ordinance was not enacted. Council Member Fenner Stevenson argued that the ordinance was prohibitive because it limited locations to at least an acre in size. That requirement is being amended. The Council will consider the amended ordinance at their first meeting in October.
