Back to School means additional driver alertness

BOONE, IA - The Boone Police Department would like to encourage everyone to take more time and slow down, especially near the schools, now that classes are beginning for the new school year. Be aware of the younger children walking in and/or near the crosswalks, moped riders, and of course the flashing school bus lights. When a stopped school bus is displaying a flashing, alternating red lamp, a driver of a vehicle meeting or overtaking the stopped bus from either direction (front or back) must stop and wait until the bus moves again or the red light is off.
