Burning Hours Could Be Extended

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone City Council will be considering a request to extend the hours of open burning of yard waste. Currently, City Code sets the burning time from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Earlier this month, Council Member Gary Nystrom called for an amendment to the ordinance because most people that work aren't able to get home to burn their yard waste. However, the Council does have the authority to extend the hours by resolution and will consider doing that Monday. If approved, the change could go into affect right away. The original dates and hours were set by ordinance in 2000.
