City Acquires Property for Water Tower

BOONE, Iowa---Acquiring the property is one thing, building a new water tower on the southwest side of the city is another. Over the past couple of City Council meetings, the Council accepted applications for voluntary annexation of property near the corner of Park Avenue and Marion Street. Altogether, the City obtained just over three acres for less than $30,000. A water tower on the southwest side of the city is expected to improve water pressure for the area, which could lead to additional residential development. Roy Martin, Superintendent of Utilities, has targeted such a project for several years.
