Communications Upgrade Funding Discussed

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Board of Supervisors will need to make some decisions soon about funding options for the mandated upgrade in Boone County Emergency Communications. 911 Coordinator Rick Lampe and Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Morlan met with the Supervisors Wednesday and reviewed the current status of the narrow banding upgrade. Lampe says a system has been selected that would be upgradable and provide at least 98% coverage in the county. Depending on additional frequencies, the system could cost about $750,000.
