Trains Continue to Run

BOONE, Iowa---Union Pacific Railroad Locomotive Engineers are part of nearly a dozen different rail unions that were poised to strike Thursday night following a 30-day cooling off period. A Presidential Emergency Board of appointed and intervened to keep rail traffic rolling for another 60-days, 30 to review and recommend a contract settlement and another 30-day cooling off period. 97% of the voting members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen voted to authorize a strike.
