BOONE, Iowa---Thursday will signal the beginning of the 2011 Boone County Fair, an American Tradition. Thursday will feature the first of the livestock shows with sheep, horses and goats. The commercial exhibit building is slated to open at 11:00. The annual Fair Parade will be held Thursday afternoon at 5:30, beginning at the Boone High School, traveling on 8th Street to Benton, under the underpass and out the the Fairgrounds. The 2011 Fair Queen will be crowned after the parade and the Boone Municipal Band will play a patriotic concert. The Boone County Fair is a free gate fair.
