BOONE, Iowa---A packed Boone High School gymnasium greeted the nearly 90 members of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team on their return to Boone. The unit based in Boone has just completed a return from active duty in Afghanistan. The Headquarters Company led the nearly 2,900 soldiers as their part in Operation Enduring Freedom. Not all members were able to return Thursday. Colonel Greg Hapgood has said that units will be returning home over the next several weeks.
