Variances Approved for Wal-Mart Plan

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone City Zoning Board of Adjustment did approve requested variances for a proposed new Wal-Mart store that would be located on the south side of the city. One of the variances was to reduce the size of the required parking spaces and the second to reduce the number of parking spaces. Neighboring business owners did not protest the variances, but did voice concern about traffic flow patterns at South Linn and Southeast Marshall Streets. Traffic study information has already been sent to the Iowa DOT for review. City staff is currently working with the traffic study information.
