Historic Recognition

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Historical Society is set to honor Kate Shelley this weekend, recognizing the 130th Anniversary of Kate's heroic feat, crawling across the Des Moines River Bridge to warn railroad personnel that the Honey Creek Bridge was washed out and there had been a train wreck. Historical Society Executive Director Charles Irwin says the public is welcome to join in Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00 at the Kate Shelley Railroad Museum and Park in Moingona. The event is free of charge.
