BOONE, Iowa---Boone's annual Johnny Appleseed Tree Planting will take place Saturday and will cover several different parts of the city. Phil Brown is Johnny Appleseed, replacing Dr. John Murphy who handled the duties for more than 20-years. Brown says the plantings this Saturday will be around the new baseball field at DMACC, near the south enterance to the city and in McHose Park. Many of the dollars allocated to tree plantings are now being diverted to tree maintenance.
