BOONE, Iowa---Members of the Iowa Army National Guard based in Boone will receive a formal sendoff Sunday, April 11th as the unit prepares to leave for Kosovo and become part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission. The soldiers are with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 147th Aviation which flies and maintains the UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters. The most recent deployment for the unit was Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006-2007. The public is invited to the Sunday sendoff at 2:00 at Des Moines Area Community College in Boone.
