BOONE, Iowa---Boone Mayor John Slight says demolition is expected to move ahead in downtown Boone. Slight says many people have wondered if the city would ever get the three buildings damaged by fire in February of 2009 removed. The City Council this week did formally vote to uphold the city ordinance requiring that the basements be removed. Slight says City Administrator Luke Nelson has worked with those involved and has a tentative time frame calling for completion of the demolition no later than July.
