Farmers Market Comes to Downtown Boone

BOONE, Iowa---After years of locating the Boone Farmers Market in the parking lot of Wal~Mart on the south side of Boone, organizers will move to the parking lot of Family Video and Pappa Murphy's Thursday.  Chamber Executive Director Kurt Phillips says he's excited about the change, especially the potential for the change.  Phillips says the Boone Farmers Market is a popular event and the relocation is being embraced by downtown businesses.  Phillips says he expects to effort to grow and expand throughout the summer.  Initial discussions included locating the Farmers Market on the empty lot at 8th and Story Streets.  However, the property is for sale and the city officials wanted to make sure it would be available if an offer is received.
