Relay for Life tonight in Boone
BOONE - A person's reasons for participating in Relay for Life are a unique and special as the story that motivates him or her. Relay for Life is an opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember people who have lost their battle with cancer, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives. Opening Ceremonies start at 6pm for tonight's Relay for Life event at Goeppinger Field in Boone. Participants in the Survivors Lap should begin registering at 5. Different events are scheduled throughout the evening starting with the Survivor and Caregiver Lap at 6; the Education Station from 6pm to Dusk; Woodward Drum Corp Performance at 7; Children's Inflatables from 7 to Midnight (there is a charge of $7 per child); the Parade of Teams at 7:30; the Bingo Hunt from 8 to 10; the Luminaria Ceremony at dusk; the Hope Lap at dusk; a Pizza Feed from 10:30 to 11:45; minute to Win It! from 10:30 to 11:45; conclusion at Midnight. Overnight Luminaria Ceremonies will continue from Midnight to 7:00am. At 9:00 am on Saturday, the Closing Ceremony will be held, and they will include a recap of the funds raised.
