Salvation Army Camp Reunion

MADRID, Iowa---How many remember Camp Laurie near Madrid?  43-years ago, the Salvation Army sold the camp to the US Army Corps of Engineers for the Saylorville Lake Project, closing the camp that hosted hundreds of children from Iowa and Nebraska for more than 40-years.  Captain Robin Rutledge with the Salvation Army Corps in Boone says some of the campers are planning a reunion Labor Day weekend.  A portion of the camp remains as Swede Point County Park.  The reunion activities will be held at Swede Point Park.  Rutledge says those interested in more information can contract the her in Boone at 515-432-5570 or at robin_rutledge@usc.salvationarmy.org.
