Council Considers Sanitary Sewer Project

BOONE, Iowa---Finally, the Boone City Council will be able to move ahead with consideration of the plans and specifications for the Northeast Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project.  The work is the next phase in the mandated upgrade of the city's sanitary sewer lines.  City Administrator Luke Nelson says the hold up was a rule change tied to the award of Community Development Block Grants.  Until this year, grants would be awarded and cities would move ahead with projects.  Now, all paperwork has to be signed before bids can be sought.  Nelson says Boone was awarded a block grant in March, but just got papers to sign late last month.
