Conference Board Budget Less Than Published

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Assessor's Conference Board will conduct a public hearing on the proposed budget for the next fiscal year on Wednesday evening.  The Conference Board did direct Acting Assessor, County Auditor Phil Meier to reduce the budget for the Wednesday meeting.  Meier noted that the published budget would have sought nearly $700,000 in property and excise taxes.  The actual budget that will be considered Wednesday will seek about $575,000 in property and excise taxes.  The budget hearing will be held at the Boone County Courthouse at 6:30 Wednesday evening.
