Narrowband Radio Project Continues

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Communication Center, like many across the country, will be upgrading to a narrowband radio system.  New digital technology makes it possible and many systems are already being put in place.  The downside is the federal mandate to have system ready by the end of the calendar year.  In Boone County, E911 Communications Coordinator Rick Lampe and County Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Morlan have been working with responders on a project.  The $750,000 project will be partially funded by grants recently awarded to the Ogden and Boone Fire Departments.  This week, the Supervisors approved a resolution requesting a waiver from the Federal Communications Commission for one year, if it needed.
