County Looks at Service Improvements

BOONE, Iowa---The Iowa Legislature has several major issues under consideration this session.  Education reform, property tax reform and improving the system for providing mental health and developmental disability services.  Boone County has not waited for legislative action to make improvements in services to clients with intellectual disabilities or mental illness.  John Grush, Boone County Community Services Coordinator, says Boone County has teamed with Madison County for a number of years and is starting a program with five other counties that will provide service beyond what is currently available and will be more cost effective.  Grush, on KWBG Tuned In Program, says portions of the service structure are already in place.
