Conference Board Makes Offer

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Assessor's Conference Board has made a verbal offer to Ames Chief Deputy Assessor, Paul Overton to become the new Boone County Assessor.  Overton was one of two finalist interviewed by the Conference Board Monday.  The other candidate is current Marion County Assessor Drew Sanders.  The Conference Board, following a lengthy debate, voted to offer the appointment to Overton.  A compensation package with a starting salary of $88,000 was made.  Details are being put down in writing and that portion has not yet been completed.  If everything works out, Overton says he could begin his duties in mid-April.
