Supervisors Reject Appeal Request

BOONE, Iowa---The Boone County Board of Supervisors have decided to deny a request from county residents, opposed to an expansion of a confined animal feeding operation in Jackson Township.  Last month, the Supervisors completed the Matrix Review hearing and expressed their opposition to the project.  The DNR then notified the County that a permit would be issued, and residents asked the Supervisors to appeal.  The Board rejected that request Wednesday noting there was no legal basis for the appeal.  The Board did indicate that they would continue to support efforts by the Iowa Association of Counties in dealing with CAFO siting issues.
